Elmhurst University Cyber Range

A Cyber Range is a computer lab environment capable of hosting hundreds or thousands of isolated VMs. This secure sandbox for learning and simulating cyberthreat scenarios would provide participants and students with a tremendous amount of hands-on experience as they look to transition into the workforce.

The Elmhurst University Cyber Range is a unique combination of hardware, software, and talented individuals creating a dynamic environment supporting the education, research, and outreach efforts of our students and faculty.

Education

The Cyber Range provides infrastructure support for several courses in our Cybersecurity, Computer Science, and Information Systems curriculum including database management, network security, reverse malware engineering, and ethical hacking.

Research

The Cyber Range provides a dynamic platform allowing the quick design, development, and deployment of supportive test environments for student and faculty research projects, including malware classification, Web log analytics, SQL injection, password strength strategies, social engineering, and phishing scams, etc.

Outreach

The Cyber Range provides a cyber training environment for the Elmhurst Cyber Club, as well as other Chicagoland high schools participating in the CyberPatriot Competition. By providing such an environment Elmhurst University was recognized by the Air & Space Forces Association as a CyberPatriot Center of Excellence for its promotion of STEM and cyber education.
